Rugby club offers mental health support

While Rugby League might be a common topic of conversation in a Salford pub, people often remain silent about mental health issues.  Now a groundbreaking partnership between Salford Red Devils, Rugby League Cares and State of Mind Sport is opening up opportunities for Pendleton Together residents to address issues about mental fitness.

The project, which takes place over ten sessions, looks at  techniques for addressing issues such  as coping with stress, resilience and work life balance.  It is informed by the same good practice that helps rugby players train to keep their mind on the game.

Paul Highton (ex Salford player) at Salford Red Devils said: “Pendleton Together tenants may identify more with rugby and sport than they do with mental health services, but this project brings the two together to help people work out their concerns.”

Anyone interested in getting involved  should call 0161 7861591or speak to their housing officer.

A lefalet about the project is available to download here.
