Angels, archers, hats and fairies – it’s The Big Day out!
Enjoy an action-packed, free fun day out for all the family.
It’s all happening on Saturday 16 September, from 11am to 4pmat the Salford Civic Centre and Lawns on Chorley Road, Swinton M27 5AW.
With loads of fun activities and live music by local singers and bands, birds of prey and tons more, there’s something for everyone. Discover the green side of Salford with RHS Garden Bridgewater, the allotments society and how to grow your own food with the Incredible Edibles. Anyone can try their luck on the coconut shy or join in mini soccer stars games.
History will also be brought to life with Historia Normannis, a 12th century re-enactment group. They'll be entertaining the crowds with coin hammering, archery, combat displays, cooking and an armoury.
Expect lots of fabulous food and drink from paella to pie and mash, American style hot dogs, cocktails, wood oven pizzas, a barbecue, plus our new Salford Pale Ale for you to try, made specially for us by Eccles-based First Chop Brewery.
Youngsters will be kept entertained with a whole range of fun activities including:
- Inflatable super slide and a bouncy castle
- Magic shows and storytelling in the magnificent magical marquee
- Meet the Fairies
- Climbing wall
- Hat making workshops from recycled arts materials in the fantastical hats emporium
- A digger, fire engine and vintage double decker bus to climb aboard
- Make binoculars in the wildlife workshop
- Key 103 interactive bus
- Interactive musical workshop with a trio from the BBC Philharmonic
Face painting isn’t just for kids as there will be glitter for grownups so that they can sparkle too!
The day wouldn't be the same without the support of our sponsors and we are delighted that the festival is being sponsored by West Way Nissan, Holiday Inn Manchester West, the Novotel and Campanile Hotel.
All activities correct at time of posting but subject to change.
