Whitebeam is wired for action

whitebeamThe new community room at Whitebeam Court is planning a digital future after receiving £1000 from Pendleton Co-operative.

Pendleton Co-operative is a charitable organisation set up specifically to benefit people living in the area.

Approximately £75,000 will be available for the next five years and Pendleton Co-operative hopes to attract match funding to boost the money it has available for good causes.

Whitebeam Community Association, chaired by Eddie Murray, has been hugely proactive in gaining money from various sources and now has a fantastic space which is used for a job club, computer sessions, bingo, film and quiz nights and an office for the homeless charity Coffee for Craig amongst other things.

Eddie said: “Slowly but surely, the room has been kitted out and we’re extremely proud of how it looks.

“It’s taken a lot of hard work but it’s become a really well-used space, especially on our film nights which have been a huge success.

“We’re aiming to be able to bring people together and make it a very close-knit community.”
