Community engagement at its best in sunny Langworthy

We were delighted with the community response to last Saturday's special event, 'Love your neighbourhood, love Langworthy' which attracted impressive crowds to the Broadwalk.

Fun in the sun was the priority with young people invited to scale the climbing wall, play dodge ball and explore the mobile youth bus.  They were also welcome to have their bikes serviced and experiment with face painting and temporary tattoos.

But there was a serious side to the day. Residents were asked to give their thoughts on plans to install sprinklers in flats.  They received updates on planned fire safety work and were able to find out more about connecting with our team at Pendleton Together, including seeing the latest information on our performance.

And they were encouraged to vote for one of several Langworthy community projects in line to receive funding from Greater Manchester Police’s Giving Back scheme, aimed at reducing anti social behaviour and providing positive activities for young people. The winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

In a real team effort, we were delighted to welcome some of our partners including the Health Improvement Team, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue, Greater Manchester Police, Salix Homes, RHS, Great Places, Salford City Council, Salford Youth Alliance and Salford Community Leisure to join in the activities and offer free support and advice to residents.

We thank everyone who came along and hope they enjoyed the day as much as we did.
