Pendleton Together regeneration programme shortlisted for award
A Pendleton Together regeneration programme has been nominated for an award at the 2017 Skills for Business Awards. The apprenticeship scheme, in partnership with Salford City College, has been recognised for its work in building the skills of the community and was nominated for the Education Business Partnership of the Year Award.
Pendleton Together works with Salford City College to provide apprenticeships for people in Salford within the housing and construction industry. The partnership has re-engaged 35 local businesses with apprenticeship programmes, helping almost 100 people find sustainable employment.
The programme aims to inspire young people to think seriously about a career in the sector, and to provide employment opportunities for them.
John Jordan, Employment and Skills Co-ordinator for Pendleton Together explains “Not only are we proud to have changed the lives of those who secured the remarkable number of apprenticeships we created, we have since developed a number of opportunities for those who were not successful.
“As our fantastic refurbishment programme came to an end, we created a permanent legacy programme in partnership with Salford City College, other local social landlords and construction companies, to enhance the work we have already done for the construction industry.”
