Pendleton Together takes Pride in supporting Salford LGBT community
We were delighted to co-sponsor the Salford float at Manchester Pride over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
We also attended Salford’s own Pride event, The Pink Picnic, which celebrated its seventh year in July and was generally considered to be the best one yet - despite some difficult weather.
The Pink Picnic is organised by a team of volunteers from the LGBT community in Salford. The group aims to help make the city a safe and friendly place to live, work and enjoy social activities together by building community cohesion.
Manchester Pride offered an ideal platform to showcase the excellent work that is going on in Salford to promote equality and diversity.
Gareth Wilkinson, our Customer Involvement Manager, has revealed that Pendleton Togethers disability focus group is now broadening its approach to encompass equality and diversity. The change is in its early stages. The group will continue to represent disabled tenants, however it will also consider how they can develop work that celebrates, engages and represents all of the protected characteristics identified in the Equality ACT.
If you have an interest in equality and diversity and would like to get involved please contact Gareth Wilkinson on Tel: 07747 764 878 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
