Pendleton Together residents kick start the New Year
Pendleton Together residents came together for an afternoon of fun and good health at Brotherton House on Monday 15th January as part of Pendleton Together’s Health Week.
Residents were invited to kick start the New Year in a healthy way at the free drop-in event which included a free healthy food buffet and a variety of stalls offering healthy tips and activities. The free event was an opportunity for residents and locals to socialise in a safe, community environment whilst finding out how they can get healthy and stay healthy but also keep a healthy bank balance.
Health Week was supported by a number of local organisations in Salford including the Health Improvement Team, Salford Community Leisure, Salford Credit Union, Fusion Fitness, Salford Health Works and Health Watch, who all held stalls at the drop-in event.
An exciting range of freebies were on offer for attendees including gym and swim passes, fitness level monitoring, a healthy food buffet and stop smoking guidance.
As part of the Health Week, a programme of free taster sessions continued to take place at Pendleton Together including cooking on a budget, outdoor gym, chair-based exercise and relaxation techniques. Pendleton Together are also promoting other healthy activities taking place locally, from roller discos to canoe clubs.
Residents described the afternoon as “friendly”, “interesting”, “a warm atmosphere” and “a great way to bring the neighbourhood together”.
